The trail is noted for ferns, wild flowers, rocky shoals, and steep ledges. Near the end of the trail a water fall drops through a series of cascades which culminate in a beautiful 50' water fall.

The stream along the trail offers excellent opportunities for trout fishing and back country camping.

The trail begins at Panther Creek Recreation Area on old U.S. 441. Take US 441/23 south from Tallulah Falls for 3 miles. Make a right onto historic US 441, travel for approximately 5 miles to Panther Creek Recreation Area. Panther Creek Hiking Trail is accessed directly across the street from the picnic area.
